After school drama classes for children and youth aged 5-16 years
Tim Bray Productions Youth Theatre is an opportunity for your child/ren to become actively engaged with our company and provides a chance for them to grow up with us.
Youth Theatre encourages self-confidence and focus. It is an enjoyable way for members to explore their imaginations and to harness and express their creativity.
Members learn various drama, voice, improvisation and movement techniques.
“My son loves going to drama classes, it’s one of the highlights of his week. What I hadn’t appreciated before he started was how much drama would help him with a whole range of social skills which has
been really valuable.”
- Quote from Mum of TBP Youth Theatre Student.
Maddie just loves drama and was all chat after class on Monday about the ‘trust’ class this week. Please pass on our thanks to Rachel for being such a great fun and inspiring teacher. – Louise, 2016
Our Youth Theatre is more than just a weekly drama class –
A head tutor hosts each class with members being introduced to a range of theatre techniques (onstage and off) with occasional guest tutors; for example, movement, improvisation, elements of costume, lighting and set design from regular designers affiliated with Tim Bray Productions.
Students also attend a rehearsal of each current production to watch professional actors at work. Throughout the year the Tim Bray Productions Youth Theatre members work towards an end of year performance. This performance allows them to showcase the skills they have learned throughout the year to their family and friends.
“I started drama classes when I was 13 with Mary Amoore and her Auckland Youth Theatre and the skills I learnt from her and the other tutors of the AYT continue to be used in my work. The self-confidence I quietly built up through the classes was, in hindsight, a great gift.” – Tim Bray, Artistic Director.

“Mrs Wishy-Washy is more than just a comfortable hour long dalliance in the theatre. It is a fine addition to the children theatre…”
